  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Generic Electronic Module (GEM) harness connector C104. See Figure. Measure resistance between DLC terminal No. 7 (White/Black wire) and GEM connector C104 terminal No. 16 (White/Green wire). See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair circuit between DLC and CTM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  2. Leave GEM connector C104 disconnected. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS test. If scan tool displays system passed, replace GEM and test system operation. If scan tool does not display system passed, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Restraints Control Module (RCM) connector C424. Reconnect GEM connector C104. Measure resistance between C424 terminal No. 15 (White/Red wire) and DLC connector terminal No. 7 (White/Black wire). See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open between C424 and DLC connector. Test system operation.
  4. Leave RCM connector C104 disconnected. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS test. If scan tool displays system passed, replace RCM and test system operation. If scan tool does not display system passed, ISO network is okay. Check scan tool. Refer to scan tool manufacturer's instructions.
