Power Steering System Filling: Refill

    CAUTION: Mixing of oil types or using an unapproved oil may result in seal deterioration and leaks. A leak could ultimately result in fluid loss, which may result in loss of power assisted steering.
  1. Fill the reservoir to the MAX mark with clean transmission fluid.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle, until the wheels are clear of the floor, to allow the steering wheel to be rotated from lock to lock.
  3. NOTE: Make sure the fluid in the reservoir does not fall below the MIN mark, as air could enter the power steering system.
  4. Start the engine and immediately turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  5. Fill the reservoir to the MAX mark with clean transmission fluid.
  6. Start the engine and immediately turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  7. Fill the reservoir to the MAX mark with clean transmission fluid.
  8. CAUTION: Do not hold the steering wheel against the stops for more than three to five seconds.
  9. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock ten times.
  10. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  11. CAUTION: Do not overfill the reservoir.
  12. Fill the reservoir to the MAX mark with clean transmission fluid, and visually inspect the power steering system for leaks.
  13. Lower the vehicle.
