Programmable Module Installation

Programmable Module Installation (PMI) method is used when a new programmable module is installed. Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) tester or New Generation Star (NGS) tester automatically obtains any valuable module option content information from old module during vehicle ID routine that runs when WDS or NGS tester is initially connected to vehicle's Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure. DLC is located under instrument panel between steering column and the radio. See Figure. It is important to connect WDS or NGS tester to DLC and allow it to identify the vehicle and obtain configuration data prior to removing any module.
