Powertrain Control Module: Installation

  1. Install PCM into vehicle through glove box and install bolts into bracket. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install glove compartment instrument panel finish panel and install screws. If equipped with a compact disc changer, install glove compartment inner panel and install screws.
  2. Position the stop tabs and raise glove compartment. Connect assist cable to glove compartment. Install instrument panel finish panel. Connect PCM harness connectors and tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Install plenum panel and install 3 retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to specification. Install cabin air filter housing and air filter housing bolts. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install strut support brace and 7 retaining bolts and tighten bolts to specification. Install cabin air filter.
  4. Install cowl vent screen and 9 pin-type retainers. Connect windshield washer nozzle hoses. Install left and right side cowl vent screen extension panels. Install windshield wiper and pivot arms onto pivot shaft. Align wiper blade to heated wiper park/windshield locator dots on windshield glass within specification. See Fig 1. Tighten windshield wiper pivot arm nuts and install 2 pivot arm nut covers.
  5. Connect negative battery cable. At this point PCM requires security access from ICM. Perform PCM SECURITY ACCESS PROCEDURE  under PROGRAMMING.
