Front Seat Backrest: Installation

All vehicles 

  1. Position the seat backrest to the seat cushion, and install the bolts.

  2. Install the bolt.

    Vehicles with side air bag 

  3. Route the side air bag module wire harness as noted in removal. Install the pin-type retainers.

    All vehicles 

  4. Reposition the seat backrest trim cover. Connect the J-clips.

    Vehicles with power lumbar 

  5. Connect the power lumbar hose.

    All vehicles 

  6. Position the inboard side shield.
    1. Install the power lumbar switch to the side shield.
    2. Install the inboard side shield front retainer.

  7. Engage the inboard side shield retainers.
    1. Lift the inboard side shield.
    2. While holding the side shield up, rotate the side shield to engage the retainers.

  8. Install the recliner handle cover.
    1. Lift up on the inboard side shield.
    2. Push in and then down to engage the side shield retainer.
    3. Install the recliner handle cover.

  9. Install the inboard side shield screw.

    Vehicles with heated seats 

  10. Route the heated seat back wire harness through the seat cushion pan.

  11. Connect the heated seat back electrical connector.

  12. Insert the electrical connector through the heated seat switch housing and connect the heated seat switch connector.
  13. Insert the heated seat switch into the housing until the switch is seated in the housing.
  14. Install the heated seat switch housing on the seat and install the two pin-type retainers.

    All vehicles 

  15. Position the outboard side shield.
    1. Connect the power seat switch electrical connector.
    2. Install the outboard side shield front retainer (not shown).

  16. Engage the outboard side shield retainers.
    1. Lift the outboard side shield.
    2. While holding the side shield up, rotate the side shield to engage the retainers.

  17. Lift, push in, and then down to engage the side shield retainer.

  18. Install the outboard side shield screw.

  19. Install the affected seat. Refer to DRIVER SEAT  or PASSENGER SEAT  in the this section.
  20. Repower the SRS. Refer to ACTIVATING SYSTEM .
  21. Check the active restraint system for correct operation.
