Instrument Panel: Installation

CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
    NOTE: Two technicians are required to carry out this step.
  1. Install the instrument panel.
  2. Install the LH cowl side bolts.

  3. Install the RH cowl side bolts.

  4. Install the cowl top bolts.

  5. Install the instrument panel defroster opening grille.
    • If equipped, connect the sunload sensor electrical connector.

  6. Install the four instrument panel center support bolts.

  7. Install the LH instrument panel reinforcement bolt.

  8. Connect the fuse junction panel electrical connectors.

  9. Connect the climate control vacuum harness.

  10. Connect the climate control harness electrical connector.

  11. Connect the intermediate shaft to the steering column.
    1. Connect the intermediate shaft to the steering column.
    2. Install the pinch bolt.

  12. Connect the automatic transmission shift cable.
    1. Connect the cable to the steering column bracket.
    2. Connect the cable to the steering column shift tube lever.

  13. Connect the RCM electrical connector.
    1. Connect the RCM electrical connector.
    2. Insert the locking clip.

  14. Connect the LH wiring harness electrical connectors.

  15. Install the instrument panel steering column opening cover reinforcement.
    1. Position the instrument panel steering column opening cover reinforcement.
    2. Install the bolts.

  16. Install the instrument panel steering column opening cover.
    1. Position the instrument panel steering column opening cover.
    2. Install the screws.

  17. If equipped, install the LH and RH instrument panel lower insulators.
  18. Install the RH ground bolts.

  19. NOTE: Verify that the locating tabs at the rear edge of the A-pillar lower trim panels are inserted into the scuff plate attachments.

  20. Install the LH and RH A-pillar lower trim panels.
  21. Install the LH and RH front door weatherstrip seals.

  22. NOTE: Verify that all the clips are installed onto the back side of the scuff plates before installation. Inspect the clips for missing attachments and replace as needed.

  23. Install the LH and RH scuff plates.
  24. If equipped, connect the RKE module electrical connector located on the instrument panel center support.
  25. If equipped, connect and engage the video system console electrical connectors.

  26. Install the utility compartment.
    • If equipped, connect the power point electrical connector.
    1. 2. Position the utility compartment.
    2. 3. Install the four two part pin-type retainers.

  27. Open the glove compartment.
  28. Install the RH instrument panel reinforcement bolt.

  29. Connect the antenna in-line connector.

  30. Close the glove compartment.
  31. Repower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). Refer to ACTIVATING SYSTEM .
