Transmission Range Sensor

  1. Place gearshift lever in Neutral position. Disconnect the negative battery. Disconnect the Mass Air Flow (MAF), sensor and the breather tubes. Remove the engine air cleaner and filter assembly. Remove the shift cable from manual control lever. Remove the manual control lever nut and manual control lever. See Fig 1.
  2. Loosen Transmission Range (TR) sensor retaining bolts. See Fig 2. Using Range Sensor Adjuster (307-351), adjust TR sensor. See Fig 3. Tighten TR sensor retaining bolts to specification. Install manual control lever, and tighten manual control lever nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Check for park gear engagement. Start engine and ensure indicated gear positions match transaxle response. If operation is not okay, check shift cable adjustment. See SHIFT CABLE . Verify vehicle only starts in Park and Neutral, and back-up lights operate.
