System Tests: Notes

CAUTION: When battery is disconnected or modules are replaced, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See appropriate COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.

NOTE: Before beginning SYSTEM TESTS, perform PRELIMINARY INSPECTION under TROUBLE SHOOTING.

NOTE: Tests included in this article are written specifically for New Generation Star (NGS) tester. Other OBD II-compatible scan tools may be used, but may not be equipped with equal test function capabilities. Refer to scan tool manufacturer's instructions.

Disconnect RAP module. If THEFT indicator is still illuminated, ensure all doors are closed. If THEFT indicator only remains illuminated when attempting to arm system, perform TEST B: ALARM SYSTEM DOES NOT ARM . If THEFT indicator does not illuminate, replace RAP module. See REMOTE ANTI-THEFT PERSONALITY MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system operation.
