Test C: Remote Anti-Theft Personality Module Does Not Respond To Scan Tool
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module 26-pin harness connector C405 (Gray). RAP module is located behind right rear quarter panel. Inspect RAP module component and 26-pin harness connectors for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. If connectors are okay, go to next step. If connectors are not okay, repair as necessary and retest system for normal operation.
- Measure resistance of Orange/Blue wire (Orange wire at DLC on Escort) between DLC terminal No. 7 and RAP module 26-pin harness connector terminal No. 3. See Figure and Fig 1
. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, inspect RAP module ground and power circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If ground and power circuits are okay, replace RAP module and retest system for normal operation. If ground and power circuits are not okay, repair as necessary.
- Disconnect in-line harness connector C222 (Black). In-line harness connector C222 is located behind left side of instrument panel, near fuse block. See Figure. Measure resistance of Orange/Blue wire (Orange wire at DLC on Escort) between DLC terminal No. 7 and in-line harness connector C222 terminal No. 6 (male side). See Figure and Fig 2
. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange/Blue wire between in-line harness connector C222 and RAP module 26-pin harness connector C405. Retest system for normal operation. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Orange and/or Orange/Blue wire between in-line harness connector C222 and DLC. Retest system for normal operation.
