Parasitic Draw Test

NOTE: Many modules draw 10 milliamps or more continuously.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect ammeter to negative battery cable according to tool manufacturer's instructions. Turn all accessories off, close all doors and remove key form ignition switch. Wait approximately 50 minutes after doors have been opened before performing test. If current draw is less than 50 milliamps, go to next step. If current draw is 50 milliamps or more, remove fuses one at a time until current draw is within specification. Disconnect ammeter and repair appropriate circuit. Check system operation.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position for a moment, then to LOCK position. Wait one minute for illuminated entry lights to turn off (if equipped). With all accessories off, doors closed and key out of ignition, current draw should be less than .05 amp. If current draw is more than .05 amp, remove fuses one at a time until current draw is within specification. Repair appropriate circuit. Check system operation.
