Oil Pump: Removal

- Remove the timing belt.
- Remove the crankshaft timing pulley.
- Remove the crankshaft timing pulley.
- Remove the thrust washer.
- Detach the air conditioning (A/C) compressor from the bracket and secure it on the radiator crossmember.
- Remove the A/C compressor bracket (engine shown removed for clarity).
- Remove the intermediate shaft center bearing bracket.
- Remove the oil pan. For additional information, refer to OIL PAN .
- Remove the lower crankcase (engine shown removed for clarity).
- Remove the oil pick-up tube.
- Remove the lower crankcase retaining bolts.
- Discard the gasket.
- Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner.
- Remove the oil pump (engine shown removed for clarity).
- Discard the gasket.
CAUTION:
Note the location of any spacer shims between the transaxle and the lower crankcase to aid installation. The spacer shims must be installed in the same location during oil pump installation.
