Removal and Installation

  1. All vehicles  - Move the front seat to the full forward position.
  2. Two-door  - Remove the quarter trim panel. .
  3. Four-door  Remove the front door scuff plate.

  4. 4. Remove the rear door scuff plate.

  5. All vehicles -  
    NOTE: Do not attempt to remove the front safety belt lower anchor bolt from the front safety belt retractor.

    Use Safety Belt Bolt Bit to loosen the front safety belt lower anchor bolt.

  6. Four-door  - Remove the center body pillar inside lower finish panel.

  7. All vehicles   - Remove the front safety belt upper guide.
    1. Open the front safety belt upper cover.
    2. Use Safety Belt Bolt Bit to remove the upper guide bolt.
    3. Remove the front safety belt upper guide.

  8. Remove the front safety belt lower guide bolts.

  9. Use Safety Belt Bolt Bit to remove the bolt from the front safety belt retractor and remove the front safety belt retractor and tongue (611B08) as an assembly.

  10. NOTE: Make sure the front safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.
    NOTE: Ensure that the front passenger safety belt retractor is not stuck in the ALR mode after installation.
    NOTE: Apply Ford Threadlock 262 (E2FZ -19554-B) or equivalent to fasteners when installing safety belt buckle or retractor assemblies.
    NOTE: Perform the Functional Test to ensure that the new retractor operates correctly. For additional information, refer to FUNCTIONAL TEST  .

  11. All vehicles  - To install, reverse the removal procedure.
