Steering Gear Bushing/Preload

  1. Raise and support the vehicle so the wheels are just above the ground.
  2. Check for looseness (clatter) in the steering gear by moving it up, down, fore and aft.

  3. If the steering gear is excessively loose, replace the steering gear; for additional information, refer to POWER STEERING .
