Output Devices: Tachometer

The tachometer is controlled by instrument cluster. The instrument cluster receives electronic information from PCM for engine speed (RPM), through Standard Corporate Protocol (SCP) communications. The electronic signal is a buffered representation of Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor signal. An open or short circuit of tachometer output wiring will result in an inoperative tachometer.
