Torque Converter One-Way Clutch Check: Assembly

  1. Insert the special tool into one of the grooves in the stator bearing retainer.

  2. Install the special tools into the converter one-way clutch inner race spline.

  3. Use the special tool to hold the stator bearing retainer while using the special tool to turn the converter one-way clutch inner race spline.
    • The torque converter one-way clutch should lock up and hold torque in the counterclockwise direction.
    • The torque converter one-way clutch should rotate freely in the clockwise direction.
    • Try the clutch for lockup and hold in at least five positions.
    • If the converter fails the lockup torque test, install a new or rebuilt torque converter.
