Repair Procedure-Nylon Insert

Repair Procedure-Nylon Insert

CAUTION: When drilling into a frame, the following conditions must be met: The hole being drilled must be at least 25.4 mm (1.01 in) or greater in distance from the edge of the nearest hole, the edge of a flange, above the frame centerline or any other existing bracket or component.

NOTE: This repair procedure should be completed in the event that a rattle is detected during the road test of the vehicle.

NOTE: High density structural foam is not to be used for this repair. Non-structural low density expanding closed-cell foam is recommended.

- Fully complete the vehicle repair.
- Drill up to six holes along the length of the nylon insert, at equal distance on the inside and outside of the frame rail, no larger than 10 mm (0.4 in) in diameter.
- Insert a sufficient quantity of low density expanding closed-cell non-structural foam in each of the drilled holes which will create a contact bond between the frame and the nylon insert.
- Allow the foam to fully cure before driving the vehicle.
