Engine Controls - Driveability Concerns/DTC's Set

DRIVEABILITY - DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)
P0068 - CRANK NO START - HESITATION AT 120
KM/H (75 MPH) - 2.3L PZEV ENGINE

FORD:
2003 FOCUS

ISSUE
Some 2003 Focus 2.3L PZEV (Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle) vehicles may exhibit any of the following conditions.

^ Intermittent Crank No Start

^ Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0068 (MAP/MAF

- Throttle Position Correlation)

^ Hesitation/Surge At 120 km/h (75 MPH)





ACTION
Using the Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) Reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Ensure that the WDS is updated with the Software Version listed in the PCM Calibration Information Chart. Verify that the PCM calibration updates to the level listed.





Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal (FPS 8262 - obtainable through DOES II, 25/pkg) and list the date, dealer number, and summary of modifications performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield
