Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU): Removal
- Disconnect the battery ground cable.
- Disconnect the electrical connection from the filler cap.
- Pull back the tab.
- Depress the clips.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the reservoir filler cap.
- Loosen the wheel nuts of the front wheels.
- Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to JACKING & HOISTING .
- Remove the front wheels.
- Loosen the bleed nipple.
- Remove the bleed nipple cap.
- Loosen the bleed nipple.
- Drain the brake fluid reservoir.
- Connect a bleed tube to the bleed nipple and into a suitable container.
- Depress the brake pedal until the no more fluid is expelled.
- Tighten the bleed nipple.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the air cleaner. .
- Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the central electrical box retaining screw.
- Detach the central electrical box.
- Relocate to the air cleaner position.
- Disconnect the hydraulic control unit electrical connector.
- Release the retainer.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Disconnect the hydraulic control unit electrical connector.
- Release the retainer.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Disconnect the hydraulic control unit brake tubes.
- Detach the brake tubes.
Left-hand drive vehicles
- Disconnect the master cylinder brake tubes.
All Vehicles
- Detach the hydraulic control unit.
- Detach the wiring loom from the suspension turrent.
- Remove the hydraulic control unit.
All Vehicles
CAUTION:
If brake fluid is spilled on the paintwork, the effected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
CAUTION:
Make sure the filler cap does not become contaminated.
NOTE:
Carry out this process on both the front brake lines.
