Removal And Installation: Column: Installation

    Vehicles With Console Shift 

  1. Position the steering column and connect the shift lock actuator.

  2. Vehicles With Column Shift 

  3. Position the steering column and connect the shift cable.

  4. Connect the brake shift interlock electrical connector.

    All Vehicles 

  5. Position the steering column and install the four nuts.

  6. Connect the steering column coupling and install the bolt.

  7. Connect the ignition switch electrical connector.

  8. Attach the wiring routing pin to the steering column.

  9. Position the wiring.
    1. Connect the electrical connector.
    2. Attach the wiring routing pin to the steering column.

  10. Connect the electrical connectors.

  11. Position the multi-function switch and install the screws.

  12. Install the reinforcement.
    1. Position the reinforcement and install the bolts.
    2. Position the data link connector and install the bolts.

  13. Install the clockspring. For additional information, refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS .
  14. If equipped with a column shift, reposition the shift indicator tube.
    1. Reposition the shift indicator tube and install the screw.
    2. Attach the shift indicator cable.

  15. Install the key-in-ignition warning indicator switch.

  16. Install the passive anti-theft system (PATS) transmitter.
    1. Position the PATS transmitter to the steering column.
    2. Install the PATS transmitter retaining screw.

  17. Install the tilt wheel handle and shank.

  18. If using the same clockspring, remove the tape.

  19. WARNING: To avoid the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, notes and instructions in the reactivation procedure.
  20. Reactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEACTIVATION AND REACTIVATION .
