Removal And Installation: Column: Removal
- Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301) and wait at least one minute. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Deactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEACTIVATION AND REACTIVATION .
- Remove the clockspring. For additional information, refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS .
- Remove the reinforcement.
- Remove the screws and the data link connector.
- Remove the bolts and the reinforcement.
- Remove the screws.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the multi-function switch.
- Position the wiring aside.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Pull the wiring harness routing pin out of the steering column.
- Pull the wiring harness routing pin out of the steering column.
- Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the four nuts and lower the steering column.
- Disconnect the brake shift interlock electrical connector.
- Disconnect the shift cable and remove the steering column.
- Disconnect the shift interlock actuator and remove the steering column.

Make sure the front wheels are in the straight-ahead position.
