Front Seat Backrest: Installation
WARNING:
To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions, and notes at the beginning of the removal procedure.
All vehicles
- Position the seat backrest to the seat cushion, and install the bolts.
- Install the bolt.
Vehicles with side air bag
- Route the side air bag module wire harness as noted in removal. Install the pin-type retainers.
All vehicles
- Reposition the seat backrest trim cover. Connect the J-clips.
Vehicles with power lumbar
- Connect the power lumbar hose.
All vehicles
- Position the inboard side shield.
- Install the power lumbar switch to the side shield.
- Install the inboard side shield front retainer.
- Engage the inboard side shield retainers.
- Lift the inboard side shield.
- While holding the side shield up, rotate the side shield to engage the retainers.
- Install the recliner handle cover.
- Lift up on the inboard side shield.
- Push in and then down to engage the side shield retainer.
- Install the recliner handle cover.
- Install the inboard side shield screw.
Vehicles with heated seats
- Route the heated seat back wire harness through the seat cushion pan.
- Connect the heated seat back electrical connector.
- Insert the electrical connector through the heated seat switch housing and connect the heated seat switch connector.
- Insert the heated seat switch into the housing until the switch is seated in the housing.
- Install the heated seat switch housing on the seat and install the two pin-type retainers.
All vehicles
- Position the outboard side shield.
- Connect the power seat switch electrical connector.
- Install the outboard side shield front retainer (not shown).
- Engage the outboard side shield retainers.
- Lift the outboard side shield.
- While holding the side shield up, rotate the side shield to engage the retainers.
- Lift, push in, and then down to engage the side shield retainer.
- Install the outboard side shield screw.
- Install the affected seat. For additional information, refer to DRIVER SEAT

Vehicles with side air bags
- Reactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEACTIVATION AND REACTIVATION .
- With all the restraint system diagnostic tools removed, prove out the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEACTIVATION AND REACTIVATION .
- Check the active restraint system for correct operation. For additional information, refer to SAFETY BELT SYSTEM .
