Lumbar Control Switch: Installation

All vehicles 

WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions, and notes at the beginning of the removal procedure.
  1. Install the lumbar control switch to the inboard side shield.

  2. Position the side shield to the seat. Route the lumbar control switch wire harness through the seat opening as noted in removal. Connect the hoses to the lumbar control switch.

  4. Position the inboard side shield.
    1. Position the lumbar control switch to the seat opening.
    2. Install the inboard side shield front retainer.

  5. Engage the inboard side shield retainers.
    1. Lift the inboard side shield.
    2. While holding the side shield up, rotate the side shield to engage the retainers.

  6. Install the recliner handle cover.
    1. Lift up on the inboard side shield.
    2. Push in and then down to engage the side shield retainer.
    3. Install the recliner handle cover.

    Vehicles with heated seats 

  7. Insert the electrical connector through the heated seat switch housing and connect the heated seat switch electrical connector.
  8. Insert the heated seat switch into the housing until seated in the housing.
  9. Install the heated seat switch housing on the seat and install the two pin-type retainers.

    All vehicles 

  10. Install the inboard side shield screw.

  11. Connect the lumbar control switch.

  12. WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions, notes, and instructions in the seat removal and installation procedure.
  13. Install the affected seat. For additional information, refer to DRIVER SEAT  or PASSENGER SEAT  .

    Vehicles with side air bags 

  14. WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions, notes, and instructions in the supplemental restraint system (SRS) deactivation/reactivation procedure.
  15. Reactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEACTIVATION AND REACTIVATION  .
  16. WARNING: The restraint system diagnostic tool is for restraint system service only. Remove from the vehicle prior to road use. Failure to remove could result in injury and possible violation of vehicle safety standards.
  17. With all the restraint system diagnostic tools removed, prove out the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEACTIVATION AND REACTIVATION  .

    All vehicles 

  18. Check the active restraint system for correct operation. For additional information, refer to SAFETY BELT SYSTEM .
