Liftgate Window Glass: Removal

WARNING: Safety glasses and gloves must be worn when carrying out this procedure. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

Disconnect the two rear window defrost electrical connectors.

Remove the wiper motor. For additional information, refer to WIPERS AND WASHERS .
Remove the high mounted stoplamp.
Using a soft brush or vacuum, remove any dirt or foreign material from the pinch weld.

CAUTION: Care must be taken to avoid scratching the pinch weld.

CAUTION: Use care to avoid damage to the rear package trim cover panel.

NOTE: Lubricate the existing adhesive with water to aid the special tool while cutting.

Using the special tool, cut adhesive from the liftgate window glass and remove the liftgate window glass.
Using a soft brash or vacuum, remove the dirt or foreign material from the pinch weld.
