Speed Control Cable: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lincoln Navigator, 2002 Ford Expedition, 2001 Lincoln Navigator, and 2001 Ford Expedition. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Incorrect wrapping of speed actuator cable around speed control servo pulley may result in a high idle condition.
  1. Gently compress speed servo spring. Insert speed control cable end into speed control servo pulley slot. Rubber seal must be fully seated onto speed control actuator cap. Release compressed spring while aligning speed control actuator cable end tabs with slots in speed control servo housing.
  2. Rotate speed control actuator cable-cap until locking tab engages. Open throttle valve. Slide accelerator cable on to ball connector on accelerator cam. Install speed control cable to bracket and seat plastic retaining tabs.
