Differential Fluid Seals: Removal
- Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Remove the front wheels. For additional information, refer to WHEELS & TIRES .
- Remove both halfshafts. Refer to AXLE SHAFTS . .
- Using the special tool, remove left differential seal.
- Using the special tool, remove the LH differential seal.
- Rotate the special tool.
- Rotate the forcing screw while holding the front cover seal remover.
- Remove the metal protector from the LH differential seal and remove protector from tool.
- Using the special tool, remove the rubber portion of the LH differential seal.
- Install the special tool into left differential seal and rotate the special tool.
- Rotate the forcing screw while holding the special tool.
- Remove the rubber portion of the seal.
- Install the special tools into the RH differential seal.
- Using the special tool, remove the RH differential seal metal protector.
- Rotate the special tool.
- Rotate the forcing screw while holding the front cover seal remover.
- Remove the metal protector of the seal.
- Remove the rubber portion of the seal.
- Rotate the special tool.
- Rotate the forcing screw while holding the front cover seal remover.
- Remove the rubber portion of the seal.
NOTE:
The differential seal is a two-piece construction.
