Exhaust System Alignment

Special Tool(s)

  1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Install the special tool onto the flex pipe.

  3. Loosen all fasteners joining the exhaust system components.
  4. NOTE: Make sure that all exhaust hangers are hanging straight up and down.

  5. Beginning at the front of the vehicle, align the exhaust system to establish the maximum clearance.
  6. Tighten the four exhaust manifold-to-dual converter Y-pipe nuts.

  7. Tighten the dual converter Y-pipe-to-exhaust system flex pipe bolts.
  8. Tighten the flex pipe-to-muffler and tailpipe assembly clamp.
  9. Remove the special tool.
  10. Start the engine and check the exhaust system for leaks.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
