Generator Load Test (Amperage)

Ensure battery is okay. See BATTERY LOAD TEST . Turn headlights on for 15 seconds to remove surface charge. Turn headlights off. Connect charging system tester with ammeter according to tool manufacturer's instructions. Start and run engine at 2000 RPM. Load system according to tool manufacturer's instructions. With engine running at 2000 RPM, observe ammeter. Generator output should exceed 60 amps for 75-amp generator or 76 amps for 95-amp generators. See GENERATOR SPECIFICATIONS .
