Test D: Generator Is Noisy

  1. Check drive belt and pulley condition, installation and tension. See BELT TENSION  under ADJUSTMENTS. If belt and pulley condition, installation and tension are okay, go to next step. If belt and pulley condition, installation or tension are not okay, repair or replace as necessary. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . Check system operation.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Substitute a known-good generator. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . Check system operation. If noise is still present with known-good generator, check other accessories for cause of noise. If noise is no longer present, replace original generator.
