Preliminary Checks

Verify the customer's complaint. Before performing any testing, perform a visual inspection. Check for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage. Check battery state of charge. Inspect accessory drive belt and tensioner. Inspect battery junction box MAIN fuse (100-amp). Inspect battery junction box FUEL INJECTOR fuse (30-amp). Inspect central junction box METER fuse (10-amp). Check for damaged wiring harness and related connectors for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair any fault found before continuing. If fault is not visually evident, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS.
