Main Control Valve Body - PREMAIN: Assembly
- Clean all components with a suitable solvent and use compressed air to dry all parts and clean the fluid passages. Perform the following before assembling:
- Inspect the valves for damage or wear.
- Check for worn or broken springs.
- Measure the free length of the bypass valve spring, the 2-3 shift spring, the converter relief spring, and the torque converter clutch (TCC) control valve spring. For spring specifications, use the following spring specification chart.
- If not as specified, replace the spring.
- Install the (D) TCC control valve spring, (C) TCC control valve, (B) stop plug, and the (A) stop pin.
- Install the (C) converter relief valve, (B) converter relief valve spring and the (A) spring retainer.
- Install the (D) 2-3 shift valve spring, (C) bypass valve, (B) stop plug, and the (A) stop pin.
- Install the (D) bypass valve spring, (C) 2-3 shift valve, (B) stop plug, and the (A) stop pin.
NOTE:
Do not compress the spring when measuring it with vernier calipers.
