Cable - Ignition/Shifter Interlock: Removal
- Remove the transmission control selector dial bezel; refer to BEZEL - TRANSMISSION CONTROL SELECTOR DIAL .
- Hold the (A) ignition/shifter interlock cable locknut to prevent it from turning while loosening the (B) ignition/shifter interlock cable locknut and position the cable aside.
- Remove the three steering column shroud screws and the steering column shroud (3530).
- Position the hood latch control handle and cable (16916) aside.
- Loosen the nut.
- Remove the hood latch control handle and cable and position aside.
- Remove the screw and release the instrument panel steering column cover (04459).
- Disconnect the light switch rheostat resistor electrical connector and remove the instrument panel steering column cover.
- Remove the screws and the upper and lower steering column shrouds.
- Remove the (A) bolt and the (B) ignition/shifter interlock cable.
CAUTION:
Do not loosen the ignition/shifter interlock cable locknut from the factory setting for proper shift-lock operation to avoid misadjustment.
CAUTION:
Be careful not to kink the ignition/shifter interlock cable (3F719) when repositioning it aside to avoid cable binding.
