Vehicle Security Module

PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION

The vehicle security module is on the universal asynchronous receiver-transmitter (UART) based protocol (UBP) communication network. To support several vehicle subsystems, the vehicle security module permits intermodule and diagnostic tool communications.

The vehicle security module controls the power door lock system. The vehicle security module monitors the door lock/unlock switch inputs from the interior door lock switches. When the vehicle security module receives an unlock/lock command from any door lock control switch, the vehicle security module will activate the door lock actuators. The vehicle security module also controls the following remote lock/unlock features:
- remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter lock/unlock
- panic alarm
- keyless entry keypad

The vehicle security module controls the autolamp subsystem. The autolamp subsystem provides light-sensitive automatic on/off control of the headlamps and parking lamps.
