Transmission Range (TR) Sensor Adjustment

Special Tool(s)

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL position it on a hoist. For additional information, Refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Set the parking brake.
  3. Loosen the clamps and remove the air cleaner tube.

  4. Remove the air cleaner assembly. For additional information, refer to AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY .

  5. Disconnect the digital transmission range (TR) sensor electrical connector.

  6. Disconnect the shift cable from the manual control lever.

  7. Remove the manual control lever.

  8. Loosen but do not remove the digital TR sensor bolts.

  9. Using the special tool, align the digital TR sensor and tighten the bolts.

  10. Install the manual control lever and nut.

  11. Connect the shift cable back onto the manual control lever.

  12. Verify that the selector lever cable is correctly adjusted. For additional information, refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE ADJUSTMENT .
  13. Connect the digital TR range sensor electrical connector.

  14. Install the air cleaner assembly. For additional information, refer to AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY .

  15. Install the air cleaner tube and tighten the hose clamps.

  16. Check for correct vehicle operation. Verify that the vehicle starts in the PARK and NEUTRAL positions and the reverse lamps illuminate in REVERSE.
