- Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR, FUEL CHARGING, STARTING & ENGINE ELECTRONICS .
- Remove the RH ignition coils. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR, FUEL CHARGING, STARTING & ENGINE ELECTRONICS .
- Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.
- Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
ITEM 8: RH VALVE COVER REMOVAL NOTE
- Remove the RH valve cover.
- Loosen the bolts in the sequence shown.
- Clean the sealing surfaces.
- Inspect and install new gaskets as necessary.
CAUTION:
Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges, which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of sealant.
ITEM 8: RH VALVE COVER INSTALLATION NOTE
- Apply two beads of silicone gasket and sealant as shown.
- Install the RH valve cover.
- Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
NOTE:
If the valve cover is not secured within four minutes of sealant application the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface cleaner. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or four minutes, which ever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.
