Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) Control Module
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Lincoln Aviator. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The one speed, all wheel drive (AWD) system utilizes a fully automatic, torque on demand (TOD) transfer case without a shifter motor. The AWD system is controlled by the 4WD control module, which is located in the center console towards the instrument panel. The 4WD control module is on the UBP communications network. The 4WD control module engages and disengages the transfer case between 2WD and 4WD when more traction is required. For additional information, refer to FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEMS .
