Removal and Installation

NOTE: When installing a new accelerometer, the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module must be configured (using vehicle as-built data) and calibrated. Follow the diagnostic tool directions for the calibration procedures. For module configuration, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION .
  1. Remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE .
  2. Remove the heater duct.
  3. Disconnect the accelerometer electrical connector.
  4. Remove the accelerometer electrical harness retainer and position aside.
  5. Remove the 2 accelerometer bracket nuts and the accelerometer.
    • To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in) (vehicles built before 10/8/2004).
    • To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) (vehicles built after 10/7/2004).
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
