Engine Controls - Rattle From PCM/ECM Bracket

RATTLE - PCM BRACKET

FORD:
2005 Focus

ISSUE
Some 2005 Focus vehicles built prior to 5/2/2005, may exhibit a rattle from the powertrain control module (PCM)-to-PCM bracket interface.

ACTION
Apply urethane foam tape as an insulator between PCM and PCM bracket.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the PCM and GEM. Refer to Workshop Manual Section 303-14.

NOTE
DO NOT REMOVE THE PCM BRACKET.

2. Obtain a piece of urethane foam tape (164-R4902), approximate size 5/8 x 1-1/4" (16 x 32 mm) from the Rotunda Squeak and Rattle Repair Kit (164-R4900).





3. Apply the tape to the upper corner of PCM bracket (Figure 1).

4. Reinstall PCM and GEM.
