Oil Pan: Removal
CAUTION:
During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan can cause engine failure.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Remove the starter. For additional information, refer to STARTING SYSTEM .
- Remove the dual converter Y-pipe. For additional information, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM .
- Remove the drain plug and gasket and allow the engine oil to drain.
- Remove the inspection cover pin-type retainer, bolt and the inspection cover.
- Remove the 3 oil pan-to-transaxle bolts.
- Remove the 17 oil pan bolts and the oil pan.
- Remove the oil pan rear seal and discard.
- Clean the oil pan mating surfaces with metal surface cleaner.
