Shift Interlock System
The shift interlock system consists of:
- a brake shift interlock actuator.
- A transmission shift selector position insert, which bolts to the steering actuator housing, secures the brake shift interlock actuator to the steering column.
- electrical circuits to supply power to lock and unlock the brake shift interlock actuator.
The brake shift interlock actuator locks the gearshift lever in PARK:
- when the ignition switch lock cylinder is in the LOCK position.
- with the ignition switch lock cylinder in the RUN position and the brake pedal released.
The brake shift interlock actuator releases the gearshift lever:
- when the ignition switch lock cylinder is in the FIRST position.
- with the ignition switch lock cylinder in the RUN position and the brake pedal actuated.
