Transmission Range (TR) Sensor Adjustment: Adjustment

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL position it on a hoist. For additional information, JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Set the parking brake.
  3. Loosen the clamps and remove the air cleaner tube.

  4. Remove the air cleaner assembly. For additional information, refer to FUEL CHARGING & CONTROLS .

  5. Disconnect the digital transmission range (TR) sensor electrical connector.

  6. Disconnect the shift cable from the manual control lever.

  7. Remove the manual control lever.

  8. Loosen but do not remove the digital TR sensor bolts.

  9. Using the special tool, align the digital TR sensor and tighten the bolts.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

  10. Install the manual control lever and nut.
    • Tighten to 13 Nm (10 lb-ft).

  11. Connect the shift cable back onto the manual control lever.

  12. Verify that the selector lever cable is correctly adjusted. For additional information, refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL CONTROLS .
  13. Connect the digital TR range sensor electrical connector.

  14. Install the air cleaner assembly. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .

  15. Install the air cleaner tube and tighten the hose clamps.

  16. Check for correct vehicle operation. Verify that the vehicle starts in the PARK and NEUTRAL positions ant the reverse lamps illuminate in REVERSE.
