Pinpoint Test D: Brake Shift Interlock Inoperative
- D1 CHECK FOR FEM DTCs
- Retrieve FEM DTCs. Refer to EXTERIOR LIGHTING
.
- Are any DTCs retrieved related to the brake switch?
- D2 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE ON CIRCUIT 7S-TA33 (YE/VT)
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Brake Shift Interlock C322.
- Key in ON position.
- Press and hold the brake pedal.
- Measure the voltage between brake shift interlock C322 pin 2, circuit 7S-TA33 (YE/VT), harness side and ground.

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes
: GO to D5.
- No
: GO to D3.
- D3 CHECK CIRCUIT 75-TA33 (YE/VT) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: FEM C201f.
- Measure the resistance between brake shift interlock C322 pin 2, circuit 7S-TA33 (YE/VT), harness side and ground.

- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
- Yes
: GO to D4.
- No
: REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- D4 CHECK CIRCUIT 7S-TA33 (YE/VT) FOR OPEN
- Measure the resistance between brake shift interlock C322 pin 2, circuit 7S-TA33 (YE/VT), harness side and FEM C201f pin 15, circuit 7S-TA33 (YE/VT), harness side.

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- D5 CHECK CIRCUIT 31-TA33 (BK) FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between brake shift interlock C322 pin 1, circuit 31-TA33 (BK), harness side and ground.

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes
: INSTALL a new brake shift interlock actuator; REFER to BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK ACTUATOR . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No
: REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
