Spark Plugs: Removal
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Remove the cowl panel grille. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .
- Disconnect the windshield wiper motor electrical connector.
- Remove the bolts and the cowl lower panel.
- With a twisting motion, use the special tool to pull the 6 spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
- Use compressed air to remove any foreign material in the spark plug well before removing the spark plugs.
- Remove the 6 spark plugs.
CAUTION:
It is important to twist the spark plug wire boots, while pulling along the axis of the spark plug, to avoid possible damage to the spark plug wires.
CAUTION:
Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs, or damage can occur to the cylinder head or spark plug.
