Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS)
Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) with appropriate adapters, or equivalent diagnostic tool
NOTE: The spare key programming switch is a diagnostic tool programmable switch which provides the capability to enable/disable the customer spare key programming procedure. This programmable switch is provided as a convenience for customers who may not want the spare key programming procedure available to the vehicle driver. The spare key programming procedure is in the Owner's Literature and under KEY PROGRAMMING USING TWO PROGRAMMED KEYS .
NOTE: The spare key programming switch state can be viewed through the spare key instrument cluster PID.
  1. Insert a programmed ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the ignition key to the RUN position.
  2. Using the diagnostic tool, select instrument cluster from the menu. Select SECURITY ACCESS to obtain security access. For additional information, refer to ANTI-THEFT SECURITY ACCESS .
  3. NOTE: The default setting on delivery of all new vehicles is < ENABLE >.
  4. From the diagnostic tool menu, select the spare key programming switch and select the desired setting:

    < ENABLE > The spare key programming procedure is accessible.

    < DISABLE > The spare key programming procedure is not accessible.
