Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) With Traction Control

The 4-wheel, 4-channel anti-lock brake system (ABS) consists of the following components:

• ABS module
• Front wheel speed sensor
• Front wheel speed sensor jumper harness
• Front wheel speed sensor ring (integral to the front wheel bearing)
• Hydraulic control unit (HCU)
• Rear wheel speed sensor
• Rear wheel speed sensor ring (pressed onto the axle shaft)
• Yellow ABS warning indicator
• Traction control switch
• Traction control active/warning indicator

The front wheel speed sensor rings are integral to the front hub and bearing assemblies. Refer to FRONT SUSPENSION article.

The rear wheel speed sensor rings are pressed onto the axle shaft. Refer to REAR DRIVE AXLE/DIFFERENTIAL - FORD 8.8-INCH RING GEAR article.
