Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running. Before servicing or disconnecting any of the fuel lines or fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved to prevent accidental spraying of fuel, causing a fire hazard. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

This procedure involves fuel handling. Be prepared for fuel spillage at all times and always observe fuel handling precautions. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
- Remove the Schrader valve cap and attach the pressure gauge.
- Open the manual valve on the pressure gauge and relieve the fuel pressure.
NOTE:
Open manual valve slowly to relieve the system pressure. This may drain fuel from the fuel system. Place fuel in a suitable container.
