Selector Lever Mechanism: Removal

  1. Remove the instrument panel (IP) lower finish panel.

  3. Remove the steering column lower shroud.
    1. Remove the screws and the lower shroud.

  5. Remove the steering column upper shroud.
  6. Remove the IP cluster-to-shroud trim.

  8. Remove the RH IP cluster trim screw.

  10. Remove the LH IP cluster trim screw and pull the IP cluster trim from the IP.

  12. If equipped, disconnect the in-vehicle temperature sensor connector.

  14. Disconnect the dimmer switch electrical connector and remove the IP cluster trim.

  16. Remove the upper IP cluster screws.

  18. Remove the RH lower IP cluster screw.

  20. Remove the LH lower IP cluster screw and position the IP cluster aside.

    CAUTION: To prevent cable damage, do not apply force to the selector lever cable assembly between the steering column selector lever arm and the steering column bracket.
  22. Disconnect the selector lever cable.

  24. Remove the locking pin and the park lock cable (PLC).
    1. Remove and discard the locking pin.
    2. Disconnect the PLC.

  26. Disconnect the transmission control (TC) switch electrical connector and the harness from the retaining clips.

  28. Remove the selector lever bolt.

  30. Remove the selector lever.

  32. Remove the selector lever mechanism lower bolt.

  34. Disconnect the brake shift interlock actuator (BSIA) electrical connector and remove the selector lever mechanism upper bolts and the selector lever mechanism from the vehicle.

  36. Remove the BSIA from the selector lever mechanism.
    1. Pull the BSIA override button.
    2. Remove the BSIA screw.
    3. Gently pry the clip up and remove the BSIA.
