Selector Lever Mechanism: Removal
- Remove the instrument panel (IP) lower finish panel.
- Remove the steering column lower shroud.
- Remove the screws and the lower shroud.
- Remove the steering column upper shroud.
- Remove the IP cluster-to-shroud trim.
- Remove the RH IP cluster trim screw.
- Remove the LH IP cluster trim screw and pull the IP cluster trim from the IP.
- If equipped, disconnect the in-vehicle temperature sensor connector.
- Disconnect the dimmer switch electrical connector and remove the IP cluster trim.
- Remove the upper IP cluster screws.
- Remove the RH lower IP cluster screw.
- Remove the LH lower IP cluster screw and position the IP cluster aside.
- Disconnect the selector lever cable.
- Remove the locking pin and the park lock cable (PLC).
- Remove and discard the locking pin.
- Disconnect the PLC.
- Disconnect the transmission control (TC) switch electrical connector and the harness from the retaining clips.
- Remove the selector lever bolt.
- Remove the selector lever.
- Remove the selector lever mechanism lower bolt.
- Disconnect the brake shift interlock actuator (BSIA) electrical connector and remove the selector lever mechanism upper bolts and the selector lever mechanism from the vehicle.
- Remove the BSIA from the selector lever mechanism.
- Pull the BSIA override button.
- Remove the BSIA screw.
- Gently pry the clip up and remove the BSIA.
CAUTION:
To prevent cable damage, do not apply force to the selector lever cable assembly between the steering column selector lever arm and the steering column bracket.
