Spark Plugs: Installation

  1. Adjust the spark plug gap as necessary.

    CAUTION: Only use hand tools when removing or installing the spark plugs, or damage can occur to the cylinder head or spark plug.
  3. Install the 6 spark plugs.
    • Tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft).
  4. Apply dielectric grease to the inside of the spark plug wire boots before attaching to the spark plugs.
  5. CAUTION: Spark plug wires must be connected to the correct spark plug.
    CAUTION: Make sure the spark plug boots are positioned so the spark plug wires do not contact the exhaust manifold.
  6. Connect the 6 spark plug wires to the spark plugs.
  7. Install the cowl lower panel and the bolts.
    • Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
  8. Connect the windshield wiper motor electrical connector.

  10. Install the cowl panel grille. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS article.

  12. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
