Engine Front Cover: Installation

  1. Clean all sealing surfaces and position a new front cover gasket.

  2. Install the engine front cover and coolant pump assembly.
    1. Apply Thread Sealant with PTFE to the bolts indicated.
    2. Install the 5 bolts and 5 stud bolts and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  3. Install the coolant pump pulley and 4 bolts.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  4. Install the A/C compressor bracket.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  5. Install the accessory drive belt tensioner.
    • Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
  6. Install the accessory drive belt idler pulley.
    • Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
  7. Connect the lower radiator and heater hose to the coolant pump.
  8. Install the generator support bracket and nut.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  9. Install the oil pan. For additional information, refer to Engine Lubrication Components - Exploded View, Oil Pan, Oil Pan Baffle and Oil Pump  and Oil Pan .
  10. Remove the crankshaft front seal. For additional information, refer to Lower End Components - Exploded View, Crankshaft Pulley and Crankshaft Front Seal  and Crankshaft Front Seal .
  11. Install the generator. For additional information, refer to GENERATOR AND REGULATOR article.
  12. Install the degas bottle. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
  13. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
  14. Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
