Lower Intake Manifold: Removal
CAUTION:
During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.
- Disconnect the fuel tube spring lock coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION article.
- Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
- Remove the push rods. For additional information, refer to Valve Train Components - Exploded View, Rocker Arm, Push Rod, Valve Seals and Hydraulic Lash Adjuster and Push Rod .
- Disconnect the fuel rail pressure (FRP) sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the 6 fuel injector electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the upper radiator, degas bottle and heater hoses.
- Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the 8 bolts and the lower intake manifold.
- Remove the intake manifold gaskets and the end seals.
