Lower Intake Manifold: Installation
- Using metal surface cleaner, clean all the sealing surfaces.
- Apply silicone gasket and sealant at the 4 cylinder block-to-cylinder head seams.
- Install the lower intake manifold gaskets and end seals.
- Position the intake manifold gaskets.
- Position the intake manifold end seals.
- Install the intake manifold. Tighten the 8 bolts in 2 stages in the sequence shown.
- Stage 1: Tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft).
- Stage 2: Tighten to 32 Nm (24 lb-ft).
- Connect the CMP sensor electrical connector.
- Connect the engine ECT sensor electrical connector.
- Connect the upper radiator, degas bottle and heater hoses.
- Connect the 6 fuel injector electrical connectors.
- Connect the FRP sensor electrical connector.
- Install the push rods. For additional information, refer to Valve Train Components - Exploded View, Rocker Arm, Push Rod, Valve Seals and Hydraulic Lash Adjuster and Push Rod .
- Connect the fuel tube spring lock coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL TANK AND LINES article.
- Fill and bleed the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
NOTE:
If the lower intake manifold is not secured within 4 minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface cleaner. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness or 4 minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.
